$240 PG / Dynafit RC1 sz 26
- Price reflects a 90% discount off the current version, as shown HERE, with the listing still at the same webpage from when I posted my review over a decade ago.
- Many more details HERE, although hasn't been updated since spring 2024.
- Pics posted HERE (and lmk of any add'l pic requests).
- Earned vertical tally is 1.938m feet plus some incidental lift-served "victory laps" after dawn patrols.
- Cuff rivets/pivots are still tight as new, and boot still skis like new overall.
- Boot sole lugs are still in good shape, although the non-lugged rubber sections have worn down many times to whatever hard smooth surface is underneath the rubber and then been recoated with Plasti Dip, although currently in need of a recoating.
- The toe lugs lack the rubber rand of the current version, so I've bashed holes straight through them many times in late-spring and summer rock scrambling, but sealed up those holes just as many times with JB Weld.
- Lower shells otherwise have only relatively trivial damage from rocks since I created temporary rubber rands each spring from 3M mastic tape (which is so perfect for this purpose that you'd think that was its intended application).
- The forefoot internal lacing systems are in rough shape, although I haven't used them to secure my feet in about a million vertical feet or so as I found my feet were comfortable with it entirely loose.
- Instep buckles have been replaced many times with bike shoe buckles, and I can include a spare.
- Included are six pairs of used liners (some of them heavily used!), Raceborg 26 (used in Alien 3.0 sz 42), Raceborg 27 (used in Stratos V sz 27), 2x PG 26 (with all the toe box foam shaved away, so warm temps only), 2x bikini-ized Alien 1.0 26 (ditto re foam). You can also easily experiment with other race or near-race liners converted to bikini (using a pair of scissors, and that's it).
- Selling now because I've been using them only in warm weather for many years (since I had to shave down all the liner toe box foam liner to accommodate my big toes), and although in spring 2025 I finally had to retire one of my three pairs of Stratos V after 1.94m vertical feet, in fall 2025 I found a pair of Stratos VI, so with a quiver of a 326k vert V, new V, and new VI, I no longer feel the need to stretch out the life of my Stratos quiver by using the PG in warm wx.
$45 Swix carbon fiber race poles, new
- 130cm length, so suitable for 5'5" to 5'10" depending upon personal preferences.
- Swix Triac Jr model, but nothing really junior about it, although nowhere near as exotic as the current $560 Triac model, so just a typical high-end carbon fiber nordic race pole.
- Baskets are sufficiently sized for softer snow (unlike some nordic race pole models).
- Comes with typical nordic race pole straps that are extremely supportive yet not fast for transitions, although I can substitute in a basic loop-style strap that is typical of skimo race poles.
- I can also add a rubber grip zone (just by spraying on some Plasti Dip) for choking up on poles during steep bootpacks.
- Selling because I bought them for our daughter in anticipation of continuing her nordic racing, but now she's gone into ski patrol instead.
$15 Pomoca Free 2.0 skins 75mm x 137cm, new
- As shown HERE.
- The affixed race tips alone are a $30 value, shown HERE.
- When placed on a 160cm race ski, ~16cm of base exposed at the tail.
- The plush/fibers feel like mohair to the touch, but when I used another pair for a single outing, felt more like the glide of nylon. So probably a good choice for trimming down for Wachusett dawn patrol training with slick conditions, or late-season ski mountaineering on race skis.
- Comes with a Rossignol-branded green skin bag.
$15 La Sportiva boot bag, new
- As shown HERE.
- I have these from four pairs of La Sportiva Stratos V/VI boots (one retired after almost 2m earned vertical feet, one currently in use, two in inventory).
- I've sold one bag, use another bag to occasionally transport a pair of back-up boots, so that leaves two I can sell.
- For carrying a pair of slim skimo race boots plus some other similarly slim items, this is a slick design!
$295 Dynafit Beast sz 26.5, new
$250 Atomic Backland Carbon boots sz 28.0/28.5, new
- Brand new, never used (ordered wrong size and couldn't return).
- Same generation as in this listing.
- Contact Chris.
$700 Hagan Ultra 82 164cm skis + Hagan/ATK Pure 10 bindings + skins
Climbing skin tip attachments
- Homemade bungee and bottle caps, free, new.
$4 climbing skin storage bags, all new
- White w/ black Dynafit logo, 21x30cm, drawstring closure.
- Black w/ white Kohla logo, 23x33cm, drawstring closure.
- Black w/ white Hagan logo, 25x34cm, velcro closure with carry loops, and micro fiber drawing cloth integrated into the inside of the bag for wiping down ski bases.
- Probably even more, they just keep accumulating!
$29 Suunto barometric altimeter watch (but no compass function)
- Stopped using when I started using a Garmin fenix 5x in 2017.
- S-Lander, extra-classy metal housing in perfect condition, although leather strap is kind of rough yet still functional.
